Entertainment and Sports
There are many things happening in and around San Antonio that provide a nice diversion and a way to recharge your batteries so you can focus on your goals, and best of all they don't have to cost you an arm and a leg.
SPORTS
The San Antonio area offers a wide variety of sports offerings beginning with exciting home games for the World Champion SA Spurs NBA basketball team played downtown in the SBC Center. San Antonio also features the SA Silver Stars, our up and coming WNBA basketball team, where the women shine.
Other popular sporting events include SA Rampage hockey as well as Boxing, Wrestling and Stock Car Racing.
San Antonio is also home of the Retama Park horse racing venue featuring live thoroughbred racing and simulcast races from major tracks year-round.
LIVE MUSIC
San Antonio attracts the top name acts of the day including the stars of country music, hip-hop, rock and Latin music. The city is home to several large venues including the Alamodome, SBC Center, and Verizon Wireless Amphitheater.
Smaller, more intimate venues include the unique Sunken Gardens Theatre in Breckenridge Park and Gruene Hall, in Gruene Texas (a short drive from town).
MOVIES and THEATRE
There are dozens of conveniently located movie theatres in San Antonio with at least a couple of metro-plexes showing recently released films for as little as $1.50 per person.
Live theatre has always had a place in the Alamo city. The fabulous old Majestic theatre downtown is home to touring Broadway shows like Evita and The Lion King. The San Pedro Playhouse is in its 75th season! The Playhouse uses local talent for memorable productions of classic musicals like Annie, Damn Yankees, and Oklahoma to name just a few.
