Airframe and Powerplant Technology
The courses in the combined Associate of Applied Science in Airframe Technology and Powerplant Technology Program are designed to provide the necessary educational opportunities through classroom and laboratory teaching for a person to acquire the skills and knowledge needed to enter the industry as an entry-level Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) Technician. Graduates will be eligible to take the Federal Aviation Administration examinations. Upon successful completion of the written exams, the graduate will be eligible to take the oral and practical examinations to complete the requirements for the FAA (A&P) Certificate, the technician may enter a number of employment areas, such as general aviation, fixed-base operations, executive aircraft services, major airlines, aircraft contractors, modification operations, and manufacturers as A&P technicians or technical writers. The combined Associate of Applied Science degree in Airframe Technology and Powerplant Technology consists of 101 credit hours, 2110 contact hours, and is 60 weeks in length (Day). This program is regulated and approved by the Federal Aviation Administration and the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board. This program is approved and regulated by the Texas Veterans Commission, Veterans Education, but is not regulated or approved by the Texas Workforce Commission, Career Schools and Colleges.
Note: The General Education courses may be offered at the Technology Campus.
